GREGORY MILLAR

Gregory Millar is a lecturer in Art & Design at Loughborough College specialising in drawing, painting and printmaking.

Gregory studied graphic design, photography and printmaking at Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art in Dundee, before following a career in graphic design at the BBC in London. He then worked with creative agencies on brand identity projects around the globe. He has now come full circle and returned to his loves of linocut printmaking and oil painting.

Gregory’s design style is inspired by numerous influences including the timeless clarity of classic Japanese woodblock prints and the honest realism of the great Flemish painter Breughel. His paintings and linocut prints are often large in size.

Gregory’s subject matter is drawn from the visual beauty he sees in the world and wants to share with a wider audience. The finished results are bold figurative pieces, based on a wide range of everyday experiences which hopefully evoke an emotional connection with the viewer.

In 2023 Gregory was a selected pod artist on Sky Arts Landscape Artist of the Year.
